About Our Village

Picture
Middleton St George is a village in the borough of Darlington and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is served by Dinsdale railway station.
It had a population measured at 3,779 at the 2011 Census and is situated approximately two miles from the outskirts of Darlington. It has grown rapidly since the mid-1990s becoming the main commuter area for Darlington. It is served by two shops, three barber shops, two pubs, one takeaway, a veterinary surgery, a pet food shop, a doctor's surgery, a private day nursery, a dental surgery and a chemist. Within a mile of the village is Durham Tees Valley Airport, formerly RAF Middleton St. George. The population of the Darlington ward in question again taken at the 2011 Census was 4650.
The original line of the Stockton and Darlington Railway passed through the village.

About Our Village Hall    www.msgcommunitycentre.co.uk

About Our Community Centre
The Community Centre was built around 1930 as a Pumping Station and was sold to the Parish Council around 1980.  The Parish Council and community members put £5000 into the bank account to cover necessary improvements.  Today, it is owned freehold by the community and is managed and delivered by the Middleton St George Community Association which is a registered charity. The Community Association and its members help to support the centre as a resource and the building has just undergone a £55,000 refurbishment.
The Community Centre today is a bright, contemporary space surrounded by lovely gardens.  It is now a thriving hub, managed by the Trustees who are, together with a growing number of volunteers, responsible for the maintenance of the buildings and the activities provided by multiple hirers for the benefit of all the residents of the village and beyond.  We have a full calendar of activities for all ages, including a full time nursery, and quite often host birthdays, weddings and anniversaries in our lovely hall and gardens.
